A Festival of Beer for the Whole Family

Yep, you read correctly: this one’s for whole family. Now in its eighth year The Cape Town Festival of Beer is a three-day Festival celebrating all things beer and offering the widest range of commercially available beers in the Southern Hemisphere. The Festival offers more than 200 beers, from more than 60 brewers around South Africa and abroad.

Sunday, which is the final day of The Festival, is geared for the whole family. While Friday will play host to year-end office parties and people hitting the taps after work, Saturday is always the busiest day of The Festival. This makes Sunday the ideal day for families. The Festival has a ‘slower’ feel to it, brewers have recovered from the Saturday rush and typically enjoy having more time to chat while they fill your glass with their prized brew.

While couples enjoy an ice cold beer, cider, or even glass of wine, they can kick back and enjoy the live entertainment while their kids play in the kiddies brought in especially for them. In addition to live music, there will be a range of artisan food trucks offering a wide selection of foods. Lunch has never been easier!

And the best part is that kids under the age of 12 are allowed free entrance.

So book your tickets on Webtickets and kick off the festive season with a Festival for the whole family.

The ultimate year-end office party

We’ve all been to a flopped year-end office get-together. After toiling away for 12 months, you and your colleagues assemble for that rare occasion when you all get to let the hair down. Only, it’s an awkward activity, you’re split up into teams and wind up with the same person you’ve shared a desk with for the past three years. Or it’s an all-you-can-eat lobster dinner, and you’re the guy with a shellfish allergy. Not cool.

Well there’s a solution to all that and it should come as no surprise that beer is in the answer. This year, the Cape Town Festival of Beer is hosting the ultimate year-end party on the first night of the Festival, Friday 1 December.

For those rare few that are unfamiliar with the Cape Town Festival of Beer, it’s a three-day Festival celebrating all things beer, now in its eighth year. It is the biggest festival of commercially available beer in the Southern Hemisphere. It’s a celebration of beer like nothing you’ve experienced before, with more than 200 beers on offer, from more than 60 brewers in South Africa and abroad.

We’ve probably said enough already, but before you hit send on that email to your boss, suggesting a year-end gig that will save him a good few bucks and elevate you to legendary office status, there’s more.

This year there will be a bigger focus on ciders than ever before. From the well-known bottles making regular appearances around the braai, to uniquely made ciders emerging from South African cideries (the cider version of a brewery), there really is something for everyone.

Foodies, what better to pair with your pale ale than a mouth-watering meal from one of the various artisan food trucks? Throw live entertainment into the mix and we challenge you to find a colleague who won’t be grinning from ear to ear.

“But where would we all sit?” you ask. “We’re a big group. And what about the cost of meals?”

As seasoned year-end office party attendees, the organisers of The Festival have your back.
Every corporate hospitality package caters for a table of eight and includes: entry to the festival, where you can enjoy free tasters from every brewer, eight beer glasses, eight meal vouchers, an exclusive seating area reserved for your office, dedicated staff and security for the area, easy access to live entertainment, five beer vouchers for each member of the group (to fill that glass with your favourite brew), and finally a branding opportunity for the company.

It’s a no-brainer really.

So book before spots sell out by visiting Webtickets or contacting bookings@capetownfestivalofbeer.co.za

Cape Town Festival of Beer to overflow with flavour this December

The Cape Town Festival of Beer returns for an eighth year, from 1-3 December 2017, with early bird tickets already on sale. As the local and international beer scene expands more each year, festivalgoers can expect to see a number of new breweries join their returning favourites. From lagers to ales, stouts to ciders and beer inventions such as hop shots, there’s something for everyone.

“Cape Town Festival of Beer is the biggest beer festival of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere,” said Martin Tucker, co-founder of CTFOB. “We have the highest number of commercially available beers of any beer festival in the country. This year we are also adding a wider range of ciders from cideries around the country.”

The festival will return to Hamilton’s Rugby Club, once again showcasing the best in food, beer and live entertainment, as it continues to cement its spot on the South African and even international beer calendar.

What’s new in 2017?

There will be a greater focus on ciders and the offering will be extensive, as the local cider industry has taken off over the past few years.

A corporate hospitality offering will be available for the Friday night, including a dedicated seating area, food and beer vouchers, dedicated host, as well as branding opportunity. Cape Town’s business set is invited to take advantage of the unique opportunity to host their year-end parties at CTFOB 2017. Corporate hospitality packages can be booked via Webtickets.co.za. Special discount is available for groups of more than 20 people.

While many of the now established brewers will return, there will be a number of brewers attending the festival for the first time. Everyone from the casual beer drinker to the beer sommelier will have the opportunity to sip on beers they’ve never tasted, styles they’ve never tried and to see how brewers are pushing the boundaries of beer more than ever.

CTFOB also has an established relationship with Uber, allowing attendees to travel to and from the event using a reduced rate.

Something for everyone

This year there will be a unique feel to each of the three days of the festival, from the ideal year-end function or post-work drinks event on Friday, to a day of sports and entertainment on Saturday, and finally a day focussed on the whole family, on Sunday.

Thursday 31 November
Thursday night will kick off the event, with the traditional Brewers’ Braai, which serves as a premier networking event for SA’s leading brewers. This event is closed to the public.

Friday 1 December
This year companies are encouraged to book their year-end functions at CTFOB. Enjoy the best in beer and food on Friday night after a final week of work. Companies have the opportunity to secure their own space on the night, including a dedicated space, a host, food and beer vouchers, as well as an opportunity to brand their area. Head to Webtickets to book a corporate hospitality package. Limited spots are available.

Saturday 2 December
CTFOB offers the Saturday revellers the ultimate day (and night) out with the very best in beer, live music and entertainment, with a variety of artisan food trucks to really treat the taste buds. Special VIP packages are available for festivalgoers on the Saturday, offering beer and food vouchers, a reserved table and dedicated host. Contact bookings@capetownfestivalofbeer.co.za to secure a VIP package.

Sunday 3 December
CTFOB offers Cape Town families a Sunday session jam-packed with family entertainment including fun for the children, artisan food trucks and beer or cider for mom and dad.
